Lately, Nokia introduced a new handset to enter the mid-priced segment belonging to the ever ruling 6610 and 6610i. The recent handset is very comfortable to use and is luckily not too large to fit into the user's pocket. So, Nokia has unveiled Nokia 6020. The Nokia 6020 looks greatly stylish and none can resist its compact keypad which also includes a joystick.
The weight of Nokia 6020 is 90g and it measures 106mm x 44mm x 20mm, 73cc. It operates with Triband coverage on five continents- EGSM900/GSM1800/1900 with automatic switching between the bands.
The handset consists of Series 40 user interface, large, high resolution color display, support up to 65,536 colors, 128 x 128 pixel resolution, graphical user interface with selectable themes and a very very comfortable and well-situated keypad which is big enough to not create strain to the user's finger. Apart from these it also has an Integrated VGA Digital Camera, resolution 640 x 480 pixels. The displayed formats available are JPEG, GIF, animated GIF, BMP and WBMP.
With respect to connectivity, the handset has an inclusion of Infrared, USB with Pop-Port Interface, local synchronization of picture gallery, contacts and calendar to PC using Nokia PC suite, remote over-the-air synchronization with SyncML, sending and receiving images, video clips, graphics and business cards and extensive calendar to manage your daily schedules, meetings and events.
For transfer of data, EGPRS multislot class 6, up to 177.6 kbps, GPRS multislot class 10, up to 80 kbps, HSCSD multislot class 6, up to 43.2 kbps. Also contains Java applications i.e Java MIDP 2.0, pre-installed Java utility application and game midlets and downloadable applications including new clients and travel guides.
Graphics, icons, animations, logos are available with Digital services. It allows the user to download new games. There is MIDI ringing, alert and gaming tones with support for up to 16 voices. Also the user can download new themes including animated wallpapers, animated screensavers, color schemes and ring tones.
In order to browse the Nokia 6020 has Image upload, XHTML browser, browsing over TCP/IP, smart content download - OMA DRM 1.0 OTA provisioning, Mobile wallet for online transactions and storing information such as credit card numbers, user names and passwords.
The user is allowed to SMS picture messages as well as text messages. To MMS, he is provided with MMS 1.0 for image message creating, receiving, editing and sending with AMR voice clips and SMIL. The user can access email accounts whether work or personal, supports POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP-TCP/IP based protocols. Also email over SMS. The user can also chat and it also has distribution lists.
The VGA resolution camera enables the user to capture pictures in portrait mode though they are of average quality. The user can camcord for up to 50 seconds. With regard to call management, the most important of all the handset stores dialed, received and missed calls. Speed-dialing system is available. The memory can store up to 100- 250 entries. Leaving that, the total memory size is 2.5 MB.
There are not much drawbacks except for the usual battery problem. Nokia claims that it is capable of working upto 3 hrs in talktime mode and upto 260 hrs in the standby mode whereas sources claim that for 4 days the device worked for 30 minutes of talks and upto 10 minutes of using other functions.
Otherwise, there seem to be very few problems that the phone gives. Yes, the handset does not support Mp3 format. The handset as said before is stylish and looks awesome. So, go for it. The phone is available is two colours, greyish-blue and off-white.
